Doru Ivan

My work explores human nature through introspection and the emotional landscape of individual experience. Working in a realistic, figurative mode influenced by expressionist tendencies, I portray the psychological states that shape a human life. Through gesture, form, and symbolic exaggeration, my figures evoke moments of bliss, panic, uncertainty, reflection, and mystic awareness. I favour a rigorous black-and-white palette, using watercolour, acrylic, and black ink on paper to create dynamic, sweeping brushstrokes that define my visual language. The figures I depict are intentionally unconventional; rather than idealised beauty, I seek to reveal the poetry of human vulnerability and encourage viewers to discover beauty in unexpected and overlooked aspects of existence.
